ABOUT ME
I love all kinds of growth. To me, growth means expansion of consciousness, which ends up being improvements in self-care as well as improvements in caring for everyone and everything in the world.
Growth is the key to happiness, peace, and love for all.
more about me
I am Angela DeMello. I am a holistic Life Coach and Health Coach. My background is in Psychology. I was born in Brazil and I’ve been living in the United States since January 1990.
I see growth as taking care of the different parts of who we are. For this reason, I define what I do as a mind, body, and spirit focused work.
It’s very common to see people trying hard to take care of others and forgetting to take care of themselves. When we take an airplane flight to any place, one of the instructions that we get for survival in cases of accidents is to “put our oxygen masks first and then help others do the same”. The reason for this is that if we are not prepared and strong enough, we will not be able to take care of others.
In Psychology, there is a term that is used to describe people who take care of others before taking care of themselves. It is codependency. The reason why so many of us are codependents is that we believe that we will only be okay if everyone we love is okay.
By addressing your patterns, understanding your beliefs, and changing some of your habits, you can change the way you feel and think, which, in turn, will change your life and the lives of others around you.
If you see yourself doing the above… if your primary reaction is to take care of others first… if you try your best to get good solutions to their problems and feel guilty when you are not able to… if you feel stressed out for not having time to do everything… if you think you are not “doing enough” when you are doing a lot… if you are not being able to rest or to have fun… I am here to help you!
Difficulty/Obstacle = Challenge
Our difficulties and obstacles are the challenges that life places on us as a means of growth. We are not victims of circumstances. We are learners of life. We have much more power than we think or can imagine. When we position ourselves as learners in life, we are able to develop this innate power that we have within ourselves.
But the decision is ours. We can live our lives as victims if we want to, but it’s good to understand that victims are controlled by fear, low self-esteem, and lack of self-confidence. I like to compare challenges with puzzle games as described below:
At first glance, the challenges may seem confusing, difficult, too big, and impossible to solve. At this phase, it is easier to do nothing about it, but it is not the best way to go. We know what we want, but we don’t know where or how to start.
If we decide to do something about it, we focus on the challenge and put some effort into sorting out what’s going on. After some time we start to put some pieces together and start to understand the problem. We start working at the edges. We don’t go much deep at this phase.
The third phase is when we start to see some parts of the problem and begin to understand the challenge. We begin to learn how to play the game.
At this point, it is already easy to find the place to fit each piece. We start to see the totality of the problem and everything becomes easier.
In this final phase, we can see clearly the big picture and with that, we can make good decisions that will bring us peace and harmony.
I am here to help you understand and put the pieces of your puzzles together.
